The mission of San Diego Emerging Museum Professionals (EMP and/or SDEMP) is to facilitate career growth through networking and professional development opportunities.
Responsible for coordinating board logistics to our committee for upcoming monthly membership events and building museum networking opportunities for professionals in the local community.
Collaborate with fellow Board Members, newsletters for our membership, email communication, and photography and videos for the community events we host.
Generate content for monthly digital mailing lists for members and provide administrative and logistical support for events. Create and maintain marketing campaigns through social media and creating content for social media platforms as well as monitoring and building relationships through social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Mailchimp, Linktree, Website, ect.)
Volunteering at
Mingei International Museum
I have recently began my experience in volunteering in an art museum here at the Mingei International Museum in San Diego. Volunteers must understand the importance of providing courteous treatment to all members, donors, visitors, staff members and fellow volunteers.
Greeting and assisting visitors at the Museum entrances and during special events
Guiding guests through art-making activities and educational programs
Assisting in the Frances Hamilton White Art Library in Book Sales, collections and research.
Helping with administrative and mailing projects
Certificate of Study
Studying at Humboldt State University for her Art History B.A. in 2018, Garcia completed a Certificate of Study program for Museum and Gallery Practices.
In this program they cover museum studies, theories, and practice in all areas of curatorial, conservation, art handling, exhibition design and preparation with local historical collections museums in an academic internship.
